Fort Lauderdale’s $220 Million Water District Is Under Construction — and It Will Change Everything Fort Lauderdale has a new name for its waterfront, and the city is ready to say it out loud. The Water District — a $220 million destination at 501 Seabreeze Boulevard on the Intracoastal Waterway — is officially named, officially under construction, and officially one of the most significant investments this city has made in a generation. Think of it as Fort Lauderdale’s answer to New York City’s High Line: a high-concept, mixed-use waterfront experience designed to be visited again and again. The centerpiece is a High Line-inspired elevated promenade connecting a marine aquarium, the International Swimming Hall of Fame, an immersive digital art experience called Frameless®, rooftop dining from Apogee Lauderdale, and VIP event spaces — all accessible by Water Taxi from a new dedicated dock.
